"Our goal was to create a modern interior with subtle national accents — recognisable but not straightforward''
CONCEPT
A design concept of a two-level Mouflon restaurant is based on Armenian folk traditions. Our goal was to create a modern interior with subtle national accents — recognisable but not straightforward.

IN PROGRESS
For this project we worked with Armenian craftsmen who produced custom-made tables, sofas and a bar counter according to our sketches
Arches were used throughout the space as a reference to recognisable elements of Armenian architecture: wall finishes, door shapes, plaster bas-reliefs in window openings, and ceilings
NOW
A plaster ceiling bas-relief in the form of a pomegranate tree symbolises life and fertility. We aimed to merge the traditional symbol of Armenia with modern bas-relief techniques. The back wall of the bar features a relief pattern made of traditional Armenian stone — pink tuff, reminiscent of the "pink city," as Yerevan is often called
The space’s layout is about diverse zoning. On the first floor, the entrance area smoothly transitions into the bar, at the end of which there is a small secluded area separated from the main hall by a decorative fireplace. An antique staircase leads to the second hall downstairs, where a banquet hall with a grand piano is located
The interior features many unique details that connect the modern restaurant space with Armenia's traditions. The warm wooden floor is combined with accent black and white inserts, visually resembling a chessboard
A similar print can be seen on custom-designed lamps made of wooden elements and glass lampshades. A decorative fireplace with neon flames is a modern interpretation of a hearth, a symbol of homeyness and Armenian hospitality
The main colours of the project are warm pink and deep green. A wine room, a lounge area, and a restroom, in contrast, are highlighted in red
